Ground Birds
Page 1 (Button Quail - Wild Turkey)
|
Ground birds dwell in thickets, forests, and grassy areas eating and building their nest on the ground. These somewhat obscure birds survive primarily on insects and seeds. Generally, ground birds are well adapted for movement on the ground, e.g. the roadrunner. But, their habitation practices predispose them to predation by larger carnivores. Two distinct ground birds groups exist: game birds that spend most of their time on the ground, and those unable to fly, thus, remaining on the ground.
