Doves
Page 1 (Diamond Dove - Ringneck Dove)
|
From the Anglo-Saxons comes the common name, “dove” for the bird family, Columbidae, which generally refers to smaller sized pigeons, but there is no scientific distinction made between pigeons and doves. Moreover, nomenclature is inconsistent, for example, rock doves are domestic pigeons. Doves are globally widespread in both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Release of white doves for weddings, funerals, festivals, etc. is commonplace as they are popular spiritual symbols of peace and love.
